About the BC Taekwondo Federation:

The BC Taekwondo Federation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, development, and growth of Taekwondo in British Columbia. Our primary focus is to support our athletes, coaches, and referees at local, national, and international levels. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone involved in the sport of Taekwondo.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Tournament Director to organize, plan, and execute successful Taekwondo tournaments in British Columbia. The Tournament Director will work closely with the Executive Committee to ensure high-quality events that adhere to the rules and regulations of World Taekwondo (WT), as well as meet the needs of our members.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of Taekwondo tournaments, including but not limited to venue selection, scheduling, registration, and communication with the Executive Committee.
  • Develop and implement tournament policies, procedures, and safety protocols in accordance with World Taekwondo (WT) standards.
  • Collaborate with the Referee Committee to ensure a sufficient number of qualified referees are available for each tournament.
  • Coordinate with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and manage volunteers for each event.
  • Promote tournaments and ensure effective communication with participants, officials, and spectators.
  • Oversee tournament operations during event days, including setup, tear-down, and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate tournament success and implement improvements based on feedback from participants, officials, and the Executive Board.
  • Maintain accurate records of tournament results, rankings, and statistics.


Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in organizing and managing sports events, preferably in Taekwondo or other martial arts.
  • Strong understanding of Taekwondo rules and regulations of WT standards.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel within British Columbia.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications are an asset.
